Frequently asked questions

Have questions about our jackets, custom orders, or shipping? Find answers to common inquiries here, or feel free to reach out to us directly.

Can I wear my faux leather jacket in the rain?

Light rain won't ruin the leather, and wont cause the paint to come off. If it gets wet, shake off excess water, hang it on a wide wooden hanger at room temperature to dry naturally, and never use a hair dryer or direct heat.

What is the best way to store a faux leather vest or coat during the off-season?

Store it in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated space away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can fade and dry out the hide. Use a breathable cotton garment bag rather than a plastic cover, as plastic traps moisture and promotes mold growth.

How do I prevent wrinkles and keep the shape of my faux leather jacket?

Always hang your jacket or coat on a thick, contoured wooden or padded hanger that supports the shoulders properly. Never fold heavy leather garments for long periods, as deep creases can become permanent.

How should a new faux leather jacket fit?

A new leather jacket should feel snug across the shoulders and back without restricting arm movement. Keep in mind that real leather has natural give and will stretch slightly to mold to your unique body shape over the first few weeks of wear.

How do I fix a stuck or broken zipper on a faux leather jacket?

Rub a small amount of beeswax, paraffin wax, or graphite from a pencil along the zipper teeth to lubricate a stiff slider. If a tooth is missing or the slider is completely broken, a local tailor or leather repair shop can usually replace the entire zipper assembly.

Can faux leather coats keep me warm in freezing winter temperatures?

Standard leather shells block wind effectively but offer limited insulation on their own. To stay warm in freezing weather, look for leather coats featuring built-in shearling linings, heavy quilted thermal insulation, or detachable faux-fur collars.

How do I get smoke or musty odors out of a vintage faux leather jacket?

Hang the garment in a well-ventilated outdoor area out of direct sunlight for a few days. If the smell persists, place it in a large container with an open box of baking soda or activated charcoal charcoal packets for 48 hours without letting the powder touch the leather directly.

How should I pack a faux leather jacket or coat in a suitcase without ruining it?

Turn the jacket inside out to protect the outer grain and fold the sleeves across the chest, then gently roll it from the collar down rather than folding it into sharp creases. Alternatively, place it flat at the very bottom of your suitcase and lay other clothes evenly over it.
